"My particular role was explained to me, if I am the engine that keeps the group running or the heart that is constantly pumping and keeping this body alive. This analogy works so well because we are all constantly moving the entire time, like blood pumping through the human body."
"The type of movement you see in ‚Half Life‘ is very unique and it involves a completely different thought process and feeling in the body than anything I have done before. It is not like a classical or neo-classical piece that is about showing something to the audience. It is about something that is going on within the body. It’s about subtle movements that come from a much deeper place. We were given many images during the rehearsal process to help us find the right physicality within ourselves. One of my favourite images that I was given was that it should feel like there is an energy alive inside my body that is trying to escape but at the same time, I am trying to keep it contained. It’s about so much more than just moving your bones and your muscles to form positions. It is about trying to move every tiny little fibre under your skin. That’s what gives the movement such a unique and special quality".

"The main thing that attracted me to Staatsballett Berlin was the incredible Polina Semionova. She is one of my favourite ballet dancers and to dance in the same company she danced in was very appealing to me".
